Dire Services
Voir Dire Services are provided to prepare the
litigator for this critical stage in the trial process. Varying
levels of services are available, from the full involvement
of a highly seasoned consultant at trial, to Magnus' assistance
in developing the most effective voir dire questions. Workshops
and other educational programs are also offered to enhance
the litigator's voir dire skills.
Jury Selection
 |
Magnus highly trained
experts are available to assist with efficient and effective
voir dire consultation to maximize the chances of empaneling
the most favorable group of jurors. Magnus will incorporate
all prior research that has been conducted into this critical
phase of litigation. |
Juror Profiling
| Using the data from a Community
Attitude Survey, Magnus Juror Profiling service
provides a statistical means by which to make juror selection
decisions. Through computerized statistical analysis of
the responses of jury eligible citizens in the trial venue,
profiles of persons likely to be favorably, or unfavorably,
predisposed to the case at hand are developed. Voir dire
questions are structured to reveal jurors who fit profiles
of plaintiff oriented and defense oriented jurors. |
 |
Development of Voir Dire Questions
 |
Magnus prepares case specific
voir dire questions based on the Consultant's review of
pertinent case documents and communications with the trial
attorney. Voir dire questions are designed to elicit maximum
information from the venire. The questions are prepared
based on variables which social science research, and
our experience, have shown to correlate with verdict. |
Supplemental Juror Questionnaire
|
Supplemental Juror Questionnaires
(SJQs) are utilized during the voir dire process when
the case involves sensitive or high profile issues and
permit prospective jurors to reveal personal experiences
and attitudes privately. These written questionnaires
provide more honest responses than public statements
made in open court. Magnus prepares SJQs based on the
Consultant's review of pertinent case documents and
communications with the trial attorney. When pre-trial
research has been conducted, Magnus designs the SJQ,
incorporating the results from all of the phases of
research, to elicit the maximum amount of information
from the venire.
Reviewing and evaluating
Supplemental Juror Questionnaires at trial is very intense.
Critical decisions on challenges for cause, preemptory
challenges, and follow up oral questioning must be made
under considerable time pressure. Magnus assistance
in this process involves one or more Litigation Consultants
and/or Research Associates to review completed juror
questionnaires. The Litigation Consultant(s) then works
with the trial team to make the most effective decisions
about selection or deselection of venire members.

Voir Dire Workshop
 |
Magnus' Voir Dire Workshop
is an intensive learning experience for the trial attorney.
The attorney provides a pending case to Magnus to review
and prepare voir dire questions. Subsequently, a workshop
is arranged during which the attorney conducts a voir
dire of jury eligible citizens. Immediate feedback by
one of Magnus consultants is provided to the attorney,
via side-bar type discussions, to facilitate the attorneys
understanding of ways to hone his or her skills. This
service can be used by individual attorneys or as law
firm training; it is certified for CLE credit in Florida.
The Voir Dire Workshop can be extended to permit jury
deliberations in order to evaluate the impact of Voir
Dire training on the outcome of the case. |
