The George E. Edgecomb Courthouse in Hillsborough County was built in 2000 for a cost of almost $43 million. The courthouse has the distinction of being the first building in downtown Tampa to be named for an African-American. The Edgecomb Civil Family Court Facility, to be part of the courthouse complex, is currently under construction.
